Defending Champions Exchequers turned their anger on the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Men in week 10 of the ongoing Sapholda Hockey League with a 7-0 mauling at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium on Saturday, July 12, 2025.

Being the second highest scoreline of the entire league, Exchequers who were held to a 3-3 draw by Ark Men on Week 9, got the first goal on the 3rd minute, with a field goal by Joshua Amartey. GRA Men fought back, but could not level up till half time.

Exchequers got their cushion with a penalty corner on the 34’ by Quagraine Kofi Okyere. Few minutes to wrap up the 3rd quarter, Kofi Okyere from another Penalty corner, made it 3 for Exchequers. On the 47’, Benjamin Kwofie struck a field goal to make it 4-0.

GRA, who had not given-up conceded another field goal, 4 minutes later, while Kofi Okyere got his hat trick for the day. The 6th goal was from a penalty stroke converted by Elorm Akaba, as Exchequers were undone. The men who control Ghana’s cash, unleashed their venom on the revenue collectors with a 7th goal by Joshua Amartey who said the opening and closing prayer in their goal harvest game.

While many would have thought it will be a tight encounter, Exchequers did the unthinkable, and climbed to the summit of the Men’s league table with 13 points, 1 ahead of Police after 5 matches each, whereas GRA drop remain 3rd with 9 points.

Army maintains their 4th spot but level on 9 points with GRA Men after their 3-2 victory over Legonknights in the final game of the day.

Army scored a 4penalty corner through Sylvester Apronti and doubled the lead just before half time with another penalty corner converted beautifully by captain Stephen Ofosu Asamoah.

A minute later, Charles Kobby Asante made no mistakes in the penalty stroke awarded to pull one back for Legonknights. The 3rd quarter went barren with great build-ups and creation of opportunities. The knights from Legon got the leveler on the 49’ from the stick of Stanley Obeng with a field goal.

4 minutes later, Army struck the winner, as Legonknights led their guard down to make it 3-2. Efforts to pick a point yielded to nothing as Army put up a great defense to grab their 3rd win of the season.

Reformers in the earlier game against Ark Men wrapped up their first-round matches with a hard fought 3-2 win.

A tight battle as anticipated saw a barren first quarter and just on the stroke of the first half, Samuel Agbelie scored a penalty stroke to take the lead. 7 minutes into the 3rd quarter, Ark Men leveled things up with a nice combination from a penalty corner scored by Aliu Cisse.

Lack of concentration rather saw Ark Men concede just from restart of the game, when Emmanuel Boakye found the back of the net for Reformers to secure an emphatic 2-1 win.

While their 2nd consecutive win keeps them 5th on the table, it gave them 6 points from 6 matches.

In between the tight matches, a Ladies Development game saw a 0-0 stalemate between Ark Girls and University of Ghana. Both teams exhibited great character on the pitch but lacked the cutting edge to get a goal, as several chances were created.

The Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium will see a wrap of the Men League come next week, with the likes of Police, Exchequers, Army, GRA, Ark Men and Legonknights squaring it off.
