Dompoase-Kokwaado (D-K) Cricket Club conquered the Ghana Cricket Association-funded, Central Region Senior Women’s T20 League after their emphatic glory against Saltpond Sea Ravens in the finals on Saturday, January 17, 2026.

It became their first silverware as Coach Daniel Sawyer believed it was the beginning of better things to come.

Before the finals, Sea Ravens posted a 31-run win over Hinii Marines in the only semi-final match played at the Saltpond COS Park, earlier on Saturday, January 17, 2026.

The Ravens elected to bat first after winning the toss and scored 89/9 in 14.4 overs. It was a day of run outs, while Sea Ravens kept pushing for 2’s. Opener, Elizabeth Armah, was run out on the 1.1 over by Nancy Sagoe. Captain Mary Ndzibah, however, exited via an lbw from Grace Essoun’s pacey delivery just after the power play, when they were 32/3.

Issabella Eduah, Yvonne Nyamekye, and Jessica Aikins all suffered run-outs in their total.

Sea Raven’s Matilda Fynn was up to the task, delivering a player of the match performance in the second innings, as she took 4 wickets and gave away 16 runs, with a maiden over to lead the limitation of Hinii Marines.

6th batter Elizabeth Takyi, who scored 17 runs, off 23 balls not out, finished the game, while no other batter, aside from Grace Quaicoo 15(26), scored 5 runs. Hinii Marines managed 58/10 in 13 overs, and Sea Ravens exhibited joy in the finals.

D-K loves to bat, and so after winning the toss, they elected to bat first in the finals. Having beaten Sea Ravens twice already to stay top of the 3-team league and secure a final place, they knew they must not be complacent but remain focused on the goal.

From Deborah Mensah 11(22) to middle order Gladys Quansah 34(51), D-K scored 137/6 in the first innings, enjoying some extras from Sea Ravens. Mary Ndzibah came to the party, taking 4 wickets and giving away 12 runs.

The excitement and the tension were all in the second innings, as Seas Ravens chased.

The first delivery by Deborah Mensah got out Matilda Fynn for a golden duck, beautifully bowled. And that was the beginning of a wild restriction by D-K Cricket Club on Saltpond Sea Ravens.

Issabella Eduah needed to be tough to continue with Cassandra Takyi but D-K were undone. Cassandra was run out on the 1.1 over and then cold sat on the Ravens, as they forget they are from the Sea.

Louisa Dadzie came too late with an open arms, but Saviour Kyereboah (4.0-0-11-2) bowled her out on the 19.3 over, a time that was too late to achieve the target, as Sea Ravens scored 110/7 and D-K won by 27 runs.

D-K’s Gladys Quansah was player of the match, with her batting performance, coupled with bowling figures 4.0-0-22-1.

Deborah Mensah of D-K was the best batter of the league with 61 runs from 5 innings and also the MVP with 26.5 points. Sea Ravens’ captain, Mary Ndzibah, won the best bowler accolade with 11 wickets taken and a better economy rate, 4.18, ahead of team mate Matilda Fynn (6.30), who also took 11 wickets.

Sea Ravens’ football goalkeeper, Patience Odoom, is for keeps, as she grabbed the best fielder award, having recorded 6 dismissals and 5 catches from 5 matches.

Development Officer of the GCA, Lawrence Ahadzi, who nurtured the growth of Cricket in the Central Region, was present to honor the deserving players.

The League is another eye-opener for more attention to be thrown to the hinterlands for talent identification, as Chairman of the Central Cricket Association, tournament director, and GCA board member Francis Ayikai Okine believes there is more to come.

The Central Region remains a strong hub for Cricket development in Ghana in all categories.
