Ghana Black Loopers Set for Regional Showdown in Nigeria

Ghana’s senior national table tennis team, the Black Loopers, is preparing to raise the flag high at the upcoming West Africa Regional Championships, scheduled to take place in Nigeria from July 16–19, 2025.

The high-stakes competition will see top players from across the West African sub-region battle it out for qualifying slots to the 2025 African Table Tennis Championships in Rwanda.

🏓 Provisional Squad Named

The Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) has released a 10-member provisional squad, showcasing a blend of seasoned and rising talent.

Men’s Team:

Emmanuel Commey

Israel Aklie

James Marfo

Francis Antwi

Godwin Alabi

Women’s Team:

Cynthia Kwabi

Celia Baah-Danso

Bernice Borquaye

Eva Adom-Amankwaa

Hilda Agbottah

These players have shown consistency in both domestic competitions and previous international appearances.

🧠 Experienced Coaching Duo at the Helm

The team will be under the guidance of Coach David Senyo Ahiaba, a familiar face in Ghana’s table tennis circuit, with Coach Eva Ampah stepping in as assistant coach and leading the women’s team. The coaching team is expected to build solid tactics and mental strength to help the Loopers navigate their regional rivals.

🏕️ Mini Camp in Motion

Ahead of the competition, the squad will enter a mini training camp designed to fine-tune strategies, improve team synergy, and assess form and fitness. The GTTA aims to send a full-strength squad, confident in their ability to challenge for qualification spots.

🎯 Eyes on Rwanda 2025

This regional championship not only brings glory at stake but also a chance to book a place at the continental table tennis elite event in Rwanda. The GTTA is optimistic that with the current momentum and investment in development, Ghana can make a strong impression on the continental stage.
