Hinii Marines Cricket Club began the Ghana Cricket Association Senior Women T20 League with a 5-wicket triumph over Saltpond Sea Ravens in a match opener played at the Saltpond COS Park on Saturday, December 27, 2025.

Winning the toss and opting to field first, Hinii Marines restricted the Sea Ravens, as the latter could only score 71 runs for 8 wickets in 12.4 overs. Elizabeth Takyi led the wickets haul with 3, giving away 6 runs in 3 overs, whereas Ernestina Sagoe and Hannah Assan took 2 wickets each, giving away 9 runs apiece in 2.4 and 2 overs respectively.
Sea Ravens’ captain Mary Ndzibah and Alswell Acquah tried to replicate the limitation on the Marines, as they rendered openers Ernestina Sagoe and Anna Assan no runs, with figures (1-0-10-2) and (3.1-0-21-2).

Grace Quaicoo restored the winning mentality for Hinii and, with the partnerships of Leticia Kakraba, Rebecca Takyi, and captain Grace Essoun, achieved the target of 72 runs for 5 wickets in 9 overs.
The league, organised to develop girls’ cricket, also saw D.K. Cricket Club record a 13-run victory over Hinii Marines, later that day.
Hinii won the toss again and elected to field. D.K., with a great opening partnership between Deborah Mensah 15(22) and Juliet Mensah 16(31), scored 81 runs, all out in 15.3 overs.
Hinii’s captain, Grace Essoun, took 4.0-0-17-3, Grace Quaicoo added another 3.0-0-13-3 and Leticia Kakraba wrapped it up, also with 2.3-0-4-3, while the middle order could no longer hold for D.K
It was a bowler’s game, as D.K. worked hard to restrict Hinii Marine to 68 runs, all out in 14 overs. Hannah Assan 12(19) opened well with the hope of picking up their 2nd victory for the day, but she was beautifully bowled by Gladys Quansah in the 5th over. Gladys finished her 4 overs, having taken 2 wickets and given away just 6 runs.

Deborah Mensah was, however, the master minder in the wicket festival, taking 4 from 4 overs, and giving away 11 runs, with a maiden. It was Mensah’s affair, as Erica Afenyi Mensah, Felicity Mensah, and Saviour Kyereboah all took a wicket each in D.K. Cricket Club’s victory.
Week 2 will see Hinii Marines play Sea Ravens in the opening match on Saturday, January 3, 2026, before Sea Ravens hosts D.K. Cricket Club.
The league has the Ashanti Region and the Greater Accra Region competing at the same time in the same format.
