Saltpond Sea Ravens Cricket Club recorded their first victory in the ongoing Central Region’s GCA Senior Women T20 League, against D.K. Cricket Club on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at the COS Park, Saltpond.
Having lost in week one against Hinii, the Ravens opted to bat first after winning the toss, in their 2nd outing against DK.
Captain Mary Ndzibah and Louisa Dadzie could not produce a perfect start, as Mary suffered a run out on the 3rd ball of the first innings. The order became tall for Sea Ravens, until Matilda Fyn 36(39) held on the game, taking the deliveries into the sea and smashing them.
Matilda’s stay on the crease, with support from Elizabeth Armah’s 13*(18), and Alswell Acquah’s 10(10) gave the Sea Ravens a total of 129/9, while DK’s Gladys Quansah and Erica Afenyi Mensah took delight in their 4.0-1-31-3 and 3.5-0-13-3 bowling figures, respectively.
A golden duck to begin the second innings on Deborah Mensah by Raven Matilda Fynn with an lbw, set the tone for the restriction of DK Cricket Club.
D.K. had their bats in hand but the waves of the sea in the deliveries got no batter playing 12 runs, with Erica and Gladys managing 11(31) and 10(9) accordingly. Dk scored 79 runs, all out in 13.3 overs, while Sea Ravens won by 50 runs.
Player of the match, Jessica Aikins, who suffered a golden duck in the first innings from the swift bowling of Erica, took 4 wickets, giving away 10 runs in 2 overs (2.0-0-10-4).
Other wicket takers include Alswell Acquah (2.0-0-14-2), Matilda Fynn (4.0-0-23-2), and Louisa Dadzie (2.3-0-14-2) in the great limitation of D.K. Cricket Club.
Earlier, the Sea Ravens had clinched a 6-wicket win over nemesis, Hinii Marines Cricket Club.
Hinii took to the crease first after winning the toss, with Hannah Assan 5(3) and Grace Quaicoo 18(40). Raven’s Captain Mary Ndzibah, with revenge on her mind, motivated her team to a great first innings, although Hinii scored 118/8.
Mary took 4.0-0-13-2, while Alswell Acquah also took 4.0-0-37-2 while Grace Essoun became the only other batter to score 18 runs, off 14 balls.
With the same inspiration, Mary (who scored a boundary 6) led a good chase, opening with Alswell Acquah in the second innings, and although both were bowled by Rebecca Takyi (4.0-0-22-2), they recorded 121/4 to win the cagey game by 6 wickets.
Issabella Eduah came in the middle order to do all the work for the Sea Ravens, while Patience Odoom 9(14) and Louisa Dadzie 4(1) finished things off for the team and saw wild jubilation. Mary, however, won the Player of the Match accolade with an all-round performance.
The table now has Saltpond Sea Ravens leading with 4 points after 3 matches, while Hinii and DK follow with 2 points each.
Week three actions will see DK play 2 matches; they face Hinii for the first and later welcome Sea Ravens on Saturday, January 10, 2026.
