Week 9 of the ongoing Sapholda Hockey League was nothing but unexpected results from the first game, right to the last one, with the likes of defending champions, Exchequers being held by Ark Men, and Legonknights Ladies picking their first point on Saturday, July 5, 2025.

Highly motivated Ark Men, who are yet to pick all 3 points in the league exhibited resilience and positive character from the beginning of the opening match of the day at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium.
Exchequers, having won all matches this season scored their first 2 goals; a 3rd minute penalty corner by Quagraine Kofi Okyere and a 20th minute field goal by Benjamin Kwofie.

The Academy lads did not hold back, but opened up to create their own chances. Within 5 minutes, they scored 2 wonderful field goals to draw level. Sampson Teye pulled one back on the 40’ before Bernard Addo Quaye made it 2 all on the stroke of the 3rd quarter.
The game was not over, as Exchequers pushed for glory and were rewarded with another penalty corner, 3 minutes to wrap up, and was beautifully converted by Quagraine Kofi Okyere. Ark Men quickly responded a minute later, as Rashid Adam Guyam got his name on the scoresheet with a field goal to end the game 3-3.

Exchequers still lie 2nd with 10 points, while Ark Men who drew earlier with Legonknights Men drop to 6th with 2 points.
Still in the Men league, Police Men restored their top spot with 12 points, after beating leaders GRA Men by 2-1. After a barren first half, Police utilized a penalty corner, on the 43rd minute by Richard Adjei but within same minute, Ignatius Appiah Blankson scored from same penalty corner to restore parity for GRA Men.

2 minutes into the final quarter, Police struck again through Osman Abubakar with another penalty corner and defended well, to bounce back to the summit of the table and get their fans cheering on.
The last Men league for the day, which rather came earlier, saw Reformers picking their first 3 points for the season with a 3-1 win against Legonknights.

Legonknights drew first blood in the 2nd minute and went wild. Prince Lartey Abbeyquaye struck a beautiful field goal with delight and Legonknights fell back to defend. It took Reformers another quarter to respond, as Emmanuel Boakye scored on the 28’ to bring back hopes for the Prison warders.
It was end-to-end stuff till Reformers got 2 more field goals in the embers of the game through Fredrick Darko and Emmanuel Boakye on the 52’ and 60’ respectively.

Reformers move from bottom to 5th with 3 points after 5 matches, pushing Legonknights there with just a point.
