Maharashtra Mandle Ghana (MMG) Cricket Club finally ended their winless run in the Ghana Cricket Association Division One League with a crucial 46-run victory over Carel Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the Achimota Cricket Oval.
MMG, who were denied victory at the death against Rana Motors in Week 11 and shared the spoils with Salt n Pepper in a rain-affected match, elected to bat first after winning the toss on Oval A.
Openers Dinesh Butola 29(42) and Vasant Shinde struggled for rhythm against CSK’s disciplined bowling. Vasant fell early to a fine delivery from Vincent Ateak in the 1.3 over, and despite Dinesh pushing on for 62 minutes, he also succumbed to Vincent on 13.5 overs. Vincent finished with impressive figures of 4.0-0-26-4.
MMG’s innings gained momentum through Ishant Kumar, who top-scored with 42(33), guiding the side to a total of 124 after losing all 10 wickets in the 20th over.
CSK Collapse Under Pressure
Carel Super Kings started well in their chase with a decent partnership during the powerplay (34/2), slightly ahead of MMG’s 29/2. But a costly run-out of youngster Carlson Stanley 18(14) on the 3.5 over disrupted their progress and halted what could have become a threatening stand with captain Selvaraj Chockalingam 12(12).
From there, CSK’s innings lost structure as MMG tightened their grip. Nitesh Kanjarbhat delivered the standout bowling performance of the day, taking 3 wickets for just 15 runs in 4 overs to earn the Player of the Match award. Logan, Dinesh, Pradeep and Manish also contributed with wickets.
A late partnership between Ackon and Silas offered brief resistance, but it was too little too late. Silas was stumped by Manish Rathod on the 17.3 over as CSK folded for 77.
MMG move to 7th with 4 points and now have a final chance to secure their place in the elite league. CSK remain bottom with no points after 5 matches.
Salt n Pepper overpower GT in morning encounter
Salt n Pepper continued their resurgence with a tasty 14-run victory over Gujarat Tridents (GT), powered by a sensational knock from Junaid Ahmed.
Junaid delivered one of the finest performances of the season, smashing 71(38) with six boundaries and six maximums, setting up Salt n Pepper’s total of 149/8. His wicket fell to Anil Kumar Reddy on 9.5 overs.
GT’s innings began on the back foot after losing two early wickets, but Madhu 26(28) and Sam Michael Merbin 30(25) revived hopes. John Francis’s fiery 35(21) came too late to turn the tide.
Salt n Pepper’s bowling unit — led by Mukesh Mohan and Kofi Bagabena with 3 wickets each, plus Lee Nyarko’s 2 wickets — shut down GT, restricting them to 135/9.
Both teams remain tied on 5 points, though GT hold a superior NRR of 1.8.
ACC take sweet revenge on Royal King Punjab in Division Three
Achimota Cricket Club (ACC) produced a commanding performance on Oval B to defeat Royal King Punjab by 8 wickets, avenging their narrow 6-run loss in the reverse fixture in September.
Royal King Punjab, who chose to bat first, were guided by Ikhlaq Jamil 31(38) and Rizwan Shakir 28(23), but collapsed after Rizwan’s dismissal to a superb long-on catch by Eyram Kekeli Afutu from captain Obed Harvey’s delivery.
They ended with 111/8, with only Dishu Kumar also reaching double figures.
ACC needed just 58 minutes to chase the score, losing only two wickets. Captain Obed Harvey delivered a Player of the Match performance, scoring 56*(35) alongside bowling figures of 4.0-1-10-2. Judah Solomon supported with a brisk 33(30).
ACC rise to 2nd with 4 points, one point behind leaders Royal King Punjab, with one match remaining.
