Asikuma Queens and Boso Terrific Hitters clinch vital wins in Asuogyaman Girls U-19 Cricket League

The Asuogyaman Girls U-19 T20 league which entered week 2 saw Boso terrific Hitters and Asikuma Queens pick their first 2 points for the season at the Akwamuman SHSH Park on Saturday, July 19, 2025.

Asikuma Queens, with lots of experience and exposure begun the day with a 10-wicket victory over Senchi Fire Batters.

Senchi having won toss, elected to bat first. Great deliveries from the likes of the Nlanson sisters, Charity (4.0-1-7-1) and Nancy (3.0-2-4-0), as well as Patricia Ahorlu (3.3-0-17-2) and Pearl Bitamomy (4.0-0-17-2) restricted Senchi from unleashing their fire but going all out for 57 runs in 15.3 overs.

It took Nora Agyapong and Enyonam Gota to achieve the 58 runs target in just 6.2 overs to win the game.

In the second game, a new Abuakwa Super Queens chose to field first after winning toss, throwing their opponents, Boso Terrific Hitters into the crease.

Boso scored 157 runs for 3 wickets while the likes of Bernice Opare 24(18) had her fortunes cut short with a run out in an attempt to make their 4th run on the 12.1 over. Bernice Partnership with opener Regina Kobe 31*(63) was gaining momentum.

Abuakwa pushed to achieve their target but managed 115 runs for 9 wickets, while Boso Terrific Hitters won by 42 runs.

Bernice (4.0-0-13-0), Jennifer Ansah (4.0-0-15-0) and Regina Kobe (4.0-0-23-2) rotated overs, till Rebecca Agbeve (4.0-1-27-2) and new sensation, Issabella Amedzake (4.0-0-35-2) completed the innings for Boso.

It looks to be an interesting league, as Mangoase Hydro and Tortibo Twinkle Stars have won their matches against Wesleyan Ladies and Senchi Royal Ladies respectively on week 1, played on Saturday, July 12, 2025.

Mangoase scored 124 runs, sacrificing 2 wickets in 14.2 overs to win by 8 wickets, after Wesleyan had scored 122 runs for 4 wickets in the first innings.

Later same day, Tortibo Twinkle Stars won their game by 7 wickets. They scored 125 runs, with the loss of 3 wickets in 14.3 overs while Senchi Royals had scored 124 runs for 6 wickets.

The prestigious giant Trophy, donated by the longest serving Queen Mother, Nana Afrakoma II of Akwamufie is up for grabs, while the Ghana Cricket Association is sponsoring and monitoring talents in this league.

Come Saturday, July 26, two more matches will be seen at the Akwamuman SHS Park.
