The winning attitude of Gujarat Tridents continued as the GT Ladies team clinched the first-ever Ghana Women’s Premier League (GWPL) trophy at the La McDan Park on Sunday, October 12, 2025.
Organised by Sports For Life and title-sponsored by Fly Dreams Travel, the historic five-over modified women’s cricket tournament attracted high-profile personalities, including the Indian High Commissioner to Ghana.

With support from co-sponsors such as MGP, Beyond Borders, Binatone, KFC, 360 Classy Look, Park & Shop, H&D Events, Kidsville, Zen-Z, and Nataraj — and food partners Salt n Pepper and Cravings — the event featured an innovative double-innings format, a first of its kind even before ICC’s global announcement on October 17.
Participating clubs included MMG Virangana, Fearless Fighters, GIMA Warriors, Bharatiya Blazers, and Ghana Tamil Association, with Gujarat Tridents topping the group standings with 5 points and a +2.3 NRR advantage.

GT Ladies began their campaign strongly with victory over Ghana Tamil, leading with 73/2 in the first innings, while their opponents managed 15/8 and 15/6 in both innings. They, however, suffered a setback against a determined Fearless Fighters side, who won after posting 37/2 and 54/0 against GT’s 40/2 and 15/6.
The Tridents quickly regrouped, bouncing back with a 10-wicket win over GIMA, who scored 24/5 and 29/3, conceding 49/1 and 7/0 to GT.

After the round-robin phase, GIMA Warriors faced MMG Virangana in the semifinals, having earlier eliminated Fearless Fighters. Led by the inspired Swastika, GIMA overturned a six-run deficit to book a thrilling final clash with GT Ladies.
The final was a spectacle — full of cheers, drama, and class. GIMA posted 11/4 and 24/2, while GT Ladies replied with 22/1 and 14/1, sealing victory by 9 wickets to lift the giant trophy and make history as the inaugural champions.

The atmosphere was electric as His Excellency Mr. Manish Gupta Ji, Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, and his wife, Mrs. Nimeesha Gupta Ji, graced the colorful closing ceremony.
MMG Virangana won bronze, GIMA Warriors claimed silver, and Gujarat Tridents Ladies proudly lifted the championship trophy amid ecstatic celebrations.
