The National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) Asuogyaman District emerged champions of the first Inter-District Fun Games held at the Yilo Krobo SHS Sports Complex on Saturday, April 27, 2024.
The event hosted by the NASPA Yilo Krobo District and also participated by Lower Manya District saw Asuogyaman NASPA win in competitions like Cards playing, Relay Race, Ludu, Oware, Draught, Sack Race, Table Tennis and Eating Competition.
The host, Yilo Krobo NASPA only managed to push Asuogyaman to settle for second spot in Volleyball and Football. In the Volleyball, Yilo beat Asuogyaman 2-0 straight. Asuogyaman in the football game put themselves in front in the first half, but Yilo leveled through the spot. Asuogyaman scored again through a beautiful build up but yet again let Yilo loose to level to end the game 2-2.
The game was decided via penalty shootout, with Yilo winning by 3-0 to have the last jubilation of the day, although they lost many of the games. Lower Manya NASPA managed the 3rd spot as their men and women could not clinch victories in most of the games.
NASPA Asuogyaman’s victory was motivated by support from Hon. Thomas Ampem Nyarko (Asuogyaman MP), Hon. Mavis Opokua Akonnor (Asuogyaman DCE), Agyebeck Investment Ltd in Akosombo and Sweet Green Hotel in Senchi.
The success of the fun games has informed leaders of the 3 districts to organize more programs to enhance the unity amongst them and create an enabling environment for national growth through interactions and discussions of national interest.
