Gladson Awako’s agent Yusif Chibsah says the midfielder ‘may not play for Hearts of Oak’ despite agreeing a deal with the Ghanaian champions last month.
Awako missed the chance to make his competitive debut on Sunday as he was not included in the squad for the 2-0 win over Guinean side CI Kamsar in CAF Champions League.
Prior to the match, reports emerged that Awako had decided to quit Hearts of Oak barely a month after signing a two-year contract.
But reports were swiftly rejected by the player’s camp, with claims that the former Great Olympics captain missed the game due to sickness.
However, a day after the match and his agent, who brokered the Heats deal, has indicated that Awako could quit the club.
“Hearts of Oak gave Awako permission to hold personal training. We won’t address issues in public. It has nothing to do with financial obligations.
Hearts paid everything to the player. It’s likely he may play or may not play for Hearts but we have to meet the club to discuss his future,” Chibsah said on Asempa FM.
Hearts reportedly $15,000 compensation to Great Olympics to register Awako whose contract with Dada Boys was due to expire in October.
The Phobians couldn’t wait for the contract to run out because they needed to meet the CAF deadline on player registration for interclub competitions.
Awako’s move to Hearts was expected because the player had publicly confessed his love for the Phobians.
It’s unfortunate that the relationship is nearing collapse without the former TP Mazembe man kicking a ball.
Awako excelled last season with seven goals and six assists as Olympics finished in a respectable 6th position.
