Head Coach of Koforidua Suhyen Sc, Esme Mends says, his boys had a huge exposure in their loss to Legon Cities in the MTN Fa Cup on Monday, January 8, 2024.

Division Two side, Koforidua Suhyen Sporting Club (KSSC) hosted Premier league side Legon Cities in an exciting Round of 32 encounter of the MTN Fa Cup at the Theatre of Dreams, Dawu but lost by 4-0.

Esme Mends believes they had nothing to do in their lost.

“It is a huge exposure for our boys and there are few things we wanted to try and we tried it against Legon Cities and we had nothing to lose. Come out, play your football and enjoy yourself. I have picked so many things from them and we have improved our set up.”

Kwabena Boateng found the back of the net for Legon Cities in the 10’ after touching a loose ball in the penalty area. KSSC created some great chances to draw level but missed.

Legon Cities doubled their lead on the 50’ through Joseph Mereku, after an intense first half with the lower side. 5 minutes later, Samuel Tenedu cushioned the lead and Kwabena Boateng had his brace with 15 minutes more to play.

The Ex-Hearts of Oak captain who guided his team to beat Storm Academy and BS Pelicans 3-1 and 4-5 on penalties after stalemates respectively in the prelims and round of 64, says it was an unfortunate loss for them, as they could not utilize their few chances.

“Before the game, we set up to play to our strength and wait for our moment but unfortunately, we could not utilize the few chances we had and it showed clearly, that in as much as we played well, they did the business of the day. And that is the difference between a Premier side and a lower division side”

Koforidua Suhyen Sporting Club plays in the Eastern Regional Division Two league.
