The Ghana Cricket Association’s Division One and Two Leagues produced thrilling action at the Achimota Ovals on Sunday, October 19, 2025, with Devnik United, Alpha Cricket Club, and Gujarat Tridents Cricket Club all securing crucial victories.
The league, which began on September 14, saw Devnik United claim their third consecutive win in Division Two, edging Defenders Cricket Club by 8 runs in a tense encounter on Oval B.
Devnik vs Defenders (Division Two)

After winning the toss, Devnik struggled in the first innings, bowled out for 104 runs in 19.4 overs.
Preetham Anchan anchored the innings with a fighting 40 (41 balls) before being run out after 61 minutes at the crease.
Albin Abrahm was sensational for Defenders, claiming 5 wickets for just 18 runs (4.0-0-18-5), supported by Rahul, Yahaya, and Shibin, who took a wicket each.

Defenders began their chase confidently through Marko Awala (30 off 31) and Jacob Ayoleyine (18 off 23), racing to 56 without loss in 8 overs. But once captain Suraj Poojary (Player of the Match – 4.0-0-16-4) bowled Awala, the tide turned dramatically.
From then, Devnik tightened their field and disrupted Defenders’ batting rhythm, gradually choking their run rate. The tension climaxed when Aqeel Israr Syed dismissed Yahaya (caught and bowled) in the 18.2 over, sparking wild celebrations as Defenders fell 8 runs short of victory.

Devnik now top the Division Two table with 6 points from three games, followed by Defenders with 4 points.
Gujarat Tridents vs Carel Super Kings (Division One)
On Oval A, Gujarat Tridents (GT) needed less than 5 overs to secure their first win of the season, crushing Carel Super Kings (CSK) by 9 wickets.

GT’s Anandan Paramasivan starred with the ball, tearing through CSK’s top order to finish with figures of 3.0-1-5-3, earning him the Player of the Match award.
CSK were reduced to 35/9 in 12 overs, with no batter crossing double figures.
In response, GT made quick work of the chase, Raj Roshan (21* off 13) and Raman Madhu (10* off 13) sealing the win at 37/1 in just 4.5 overs.

Alpha Cricket Club vs Rana Motors (Division One)
In the morning fixture, Alpha Cricket Club cruised past Rana Motors, winning by 77 runs in a 16-over-per-side match.
Alpha posted an impressive 151/7, powered by Halim Khan’s 41 off 23 balls. For Rana Motors, Shajahan Razak (3.0-0-23-2) and Hari Prasad Mohanty (4.0-0-25-2) were the best bowlers.

Rana Motors faltered early, losing wickets in clusters to Alpha’s disciplined bowling. Isaac Otuafo Kwaku Aboagye, the Player of the Match, led the attack with key wickets — including the prized scalp of Richmond Baaleri Jamal (caught and bowled) — to finish with 2 early breakthroughs.
Though Prince Adotei (27* off 19) and skipper Shijo Devasia showed late resistance, Rana Motors could only manage 74/7.

Alpha remain top of the Division One table with 4 points from two matches, tied with BGC and Evolve, while GT and Rana Motors follow with 2 points each. Salt n’ Pepper and MMG sit at the bottom with no points.
Action continues at the Achimota Cricket Ovals on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
