Defending Champions of the Ghana Premier League, Bibiani Gold Stars came back from a goal down to beat Eleven Wonders 3-2 at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in the match day 17 fixture, on Sunday, January 4, 2026.
The match that ended the first round of the 2025/26 season saw Eden Kofi Asamoah put the home side ahead while Gold Stars defenders were caught ball-watching in the 7 minute.

11 minutes later, Bright Boakye Kyeremeh restored parity for Gold Stars (1-1), after Referee Moro Iddrisu played the advantage with a foul on forward Razack Sanou, while Evelen Wonders’ defense wondered.
Bibiani Gold Stars then took the lead on the 24’ when Samuel Attah Kumi went for the rebound, but the home side got back into the game on the 33’ from a great strike by the eventual player of the match, William Danquah, to end the first half 2-2.

Emmanuel Agyei got the winning goal for the Miners, as he latched onto a feeble back pass on the 58’.
Wonders kept pushing for the leveler again, but Gold Stars remained solid at the back, ensuring they picked all 3 points away.

The loss, which becomes the 13th for the Techiman-Accra based team, means they remain bottom at the end of the first round, with 6 points, having won 1 and drawn 3 in 17 matches. Gold Stars, however, moved to 2nd on the table, with 32 points, 2 away from leaders Medeama Sc and 2 points more from 3rd place Kumasi Asante Kotoko
Head Coach of Eleven Wonders, Emmanuel Aidoo, at a post-match conference, says
“We will regroup and come back stronger in the second round.”

Meanwhile, Gold Stars Coach, Flitz Markus Schmid admits it was difficult, playing a team that is already down.
“Away games are not easy. We struggled and could not close down in the middle of the park because of their formation, which we had actually prepared for, but obviously, certain things did not work, as they would have in practice.”
“I have to praise the mindset of my players and the quality to come back to take a goal and go forward and score goals.” He added.
Eleven Wonders, having qualified back to the Premier League 2 seasons ago, has 17 more matches to fight for their survival in the top tier.
